A little about me...

Hi,

I'm Michael Bennett and I am a Senior at Texas Christian University. I am majoring in Political Science and minoring in Religion. I started this blog for my Intro to Fiction class I am taking this summer.

1. Why did you choose to take this literature course? If your answer is simply that it’s required, then what would you like to get out of it?

- I decided to take this course because I needed another English credit and I like to read and would much rather read fiction than read poetry or plays

2. What is your previous experience with fiction? What kind of reading do you enjoy? What classes have you taken (in high school or college), and how did you feel about those? For you, is reading fun, easy, something you have to do but don’t enjoy, or like a visit to a medieval torture chamber? Give me both the facts of your past with reading/fiction and your opinions on it.

- My previous work with fiction reading goes back to high school. We read books such as "Brave New World" and "Lord of the Flies", which was already one of my favorite books.
-When it comes to reading now days, I mostly read non-fiction books about political theory. However, I also like reading books by Ayn Rand and Jack Kerouac. And as embarrassing as it may be I am still quite the comic book reader.
- I've always enjoyed reading. As a kid I did all of the Accelerated Reading things I could do. I've always like reading about adventures or seeing some kind of philosophy or new idea being presented. I'm not too big into philosophy stuff like Aristotle and all of those guys but I do read some of Ayn Rands philosophy books on Objectivism. I mainly like reading books about political theory like Henry David Thoreau, Milton Friedman, David Boaz and Ron Paul.
-I hope to read some new books that I would not have otherwise have read and see what my interpretation is and how other interpret it as well.

3. Finally, tell me something interesting about yourself. It could be related to a hobby or just a story about you.

- I'm from Austin and live on Lake Travis. I like to go back there a lot and wakeskate whenver I get a chance. I also work for a Congresswoman and worked for the College Republican National Committee during the 2008 elections for the Presidential, Senatorial, and Congressional races in New Jersey.

I understand the syllabus and agree to it.
